We came from nothing and were given a second chance at life, and life was pretty good until it tipped on its axis and my world came tumbling down around me.
My Baby Sister is missing…
I’ve never felt this helpless before now, the vacant hole inside me expanding with each passing second of not knowing where she is.
What’s she going through?
Is she hurt?
The more I learn of her disappearance the more fear implants itself inside my heart, hardening – darkening.
The world is a depraved place, full of evil lurking behind normality.
Behind deception and facades.
She needs me and I will do whatever it takes to find her.

—Read and reviewed for The Bookery Review—
“Lost” is my first Ker Dukey & D.H. Sidebottom’s book.
I read the blurb and it immediately got my attention. I love mixed genres. “Lost” is part contemporary, part gray and part thriller. Surprisingly, it is not as dark as I thought it would be.
Winter and Summer are two sisters bounded by love. Winter is the oldest and due to childhood events, she does everything to protect her little sister.
When they thought everything was normal, life had different plans and Summer suddenly disappeared.
Winter is training to become a police officer and she will do whatever it takes to get her sister back. Meanwhile, she is confronted with events which she isn’t expecting.
One of them is finding Cole Jennings, a detective sergeant who they have met in the past. After seven years, Winter and Cole reunite again to save Summer and the chemistry once faded, becomes clear now.
I admire Winter, namely her strength, her love, her dedication, her kinky side, and her stubbornness. However, I think she is a little reckless.
Cole is a hot specimen with a good heart and a secret side that kept me with my mouth opened. I would have loved to learn more about Cole. Cole is one of the main characters but I feel that the story needs more of his perspective. We only get the epilogue. The rest is told from either Summer’s or Winter’s point of view.
The prologue is heart breaking and filled with suspense which raised a lot of expectations. But throughout the story, there are certain aspects which deserve more attention from the authors.
The story is hot but I wouldn’t call it dark. I call it kinky and suspenseful.
The plot is good and has some twists. I wondered “what the hell is happening” so many times because I was completely clueless. And that’s why I say that this story makes you, the reader, a hunter. I found myself side by side with Winter and Cole trying to find Summer. That is one of the amazing things in the book.
The end is cruel and tough. But that’s what we can expect from this type of story. It wasn’t a complete surprise for me. There are a few things that, I think, could have more detail, namely the dark part of the story. But in general, I liked it and I recommend it.

She is an avid reader and her tastes range from horror to erotic, but she loves to help new authors get into the ‘scene’. She loves rock music and tattooed guys, and has a weakness for coffee, wine and Belgium buns.
I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters. I wanted to be an actress growing up so I could live many roles but I learned early on that my mind was too active… I would want to change the script.I would watch films and think of ways they could have improved the story if they took another direction so i thought it best that i tell my own.
My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light, some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.
When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.
